Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari and Eric Klinenberg | Book Summary
This book gave me several moments of reflection, where my personal questions and struggles suddenly felt shared and universal.
Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott | Book Summary
The craft of writing can seem like a black box to those of us who aren’t as accomplished with the written word. Bird by Bird is a great guide for anyone with an interest in improving their fiction and non-fiction writing. Less of a practical ‘how to’ and more of a way to think about and approach writing, this guide is great for explaining what makes good writing good. I think a lot of us have this instinct, but it helps to have it illuminated in simple terms.
Choice Factory by Richard Shotton | Book Summary
A really fun book chock full of examples. Examples are so great, because they provide a lot more color and richness to the abstract world of heuristics. What I loved about Richard’s examples was that he selected cases from a wide variety of categories and scenarios, so his points never felt narrow or only relevant to a certain type of purchase or decision making occasion.
Alchemy by Rory Sutherland | Book Summary
I pretty much love everything Rory Sutherland writes or says, so I knew I was going to enjoy this book. Alchemy covers ground that he has explored before and from what I can tell, this work stands as a good overview of his most important ideas.
